After Fofo Márquez was sentenced to 17 years and 6 months for the crime of attempted feminicide, he was transferred to another prison following the beating he suffered at the Barrientos prison. Since January 31, he has been serving his sentence at the Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center (CPRS) in Texcoco. Recently, photos of him in prison emerged, but their authenticity is questioned.
In the images circulated on social media, 'Fofo' Márquez can be seen in the Texcoco prison wearing an orange uniform and flip-flops, without being a victim of assaults. In one of the photos, his brother appears kneeling while police officers shave his head, similar to what was seen in a HotSpanish video. Other images show him standing with his hands behind his back and a guard holding him by the neck.
Several versions are circulating on social media; some claim these actions are a form of revenge against 'Fofo' for his damaged public image since his detention. Another theory, supported by journalist Antonio Nieto, suggests that the photos were sent to 'Fofo's' mother as extortion. So far, neither his brother nor his girlfriend have commented on the matter, but the Secretariat of Security of the State of Mexico has denied the situation.
According to the head of the Secretariat of Security of the State of Mexico, the photographs circulating on social media are not recent; they date back to April of last year when 'Fofo' was shaved upon entering Barrientos prison. It is asserted that they are keeping a close watch on his well-being in Texcoco and that he is in good condition, while the origin of the photos and the video that triggered his transfer is under investigation.
Initially, the young man was to serve his sentence at Barrientos prison, known as the 'Black Palace.' However, after the release of a video showing guards beating him and issuing threats, he was transferred. The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico began an investigation and removed those involved in the aggression, including the director of Barrientos prison.
Saskia Niño de Rivera expressed her discontent with the dismissal of the director of Barrientos, Ariadna Imelda Jiménez Medrano, arguing that the actions seek to cover up alleged networks of corruption within the previous penitentiary system. The situation of 'Fofo' Márquez continues to generate controversy and a quest for clarity regarding his treatment in prison.
